The Desk PC 2.0 has a problem, and Linus is about to go for vacation. Is Anthony a bad enough dude to diagnose and repair his workstation before he comes back?

@LinusTechTips, this video just saved me from having to reinstall Windows on a work computer! THANK YOU!!!! The end user was reporting that the desktop kept freezing / shutting down, but there was no problem with Windows or any of the software. After watching this video, I went into the BIOS and C6 Mode was turned on! Fingers crossed that disabling this fixes the issue!!

  2. You can see that Anthony is in the video without even watching it by ratio of likes to dislikes… Like Linus has nothing on this man.

  3. Catriona says:

Why does the BIOS say "you have made no changes" when you saved it after turning the C-states off?

    What Motherboard do you have?

Did the stock price for the coin hes mining rise and fall yet?

  6. Alex Ray says:

Is there a reason you wouldn't go straight to event viewer?

I had so many issues with windows hybrid sleep mode. It just doesn't work on most older hardware. Notebooks just get stuck when closing the lid, not quite off but also not on, and only a hardreset will fix it. You can disable the setting in the windows power settings.

  8. Working IT for years but with ADHD my way of it is always wonky. Anthony was systematic and clean though.

  9. Wanna know what normies just got from this video? "Hey guyz, C-States bad, go disable them".
I've never been the kind of person to care about the environment, but I'm pretty sure you just increased worldwide power consumption a tad.

  10. I had/have an issue where if I leave my usb plugged in for a while my pc just freezes and I need to shut it down. (Pc is not in use during that time)

  11. Flyboy says:

So is there any detrimental effect globally in the long-term when switching C-States off, or is it just that the CPU won't power down when idle and therefore will use more power?

  12. This EXACT issue happened with my R9 5950x when I undervolted it, everything worked fine on MAX load but my system would randomly trip on Idle. I ended up turning down the undervolt but this might actually be the solution

  13. Anthony as a PC enthusiast I have to say you are one of the freaking best people to host this kind of content, I always happen to learn something new and that's awesome.

  14. Really useful video. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

  15. Ricky B says:

Anthony needs to create another video called "How to never be asked by your boss to fix their computer again"

I once had a SSD that kept randomly crashing in a headless server. It was a nightmare to debug since the system just locked up completely, and forcing a restart (using the power button) left no traces of a crash at all (can't write logs if the disk crashes). I only figured out by leaving a screen connected to it and then being lucky enough to see it happen in real life (it happend once every few days), where the screen displayed disk errors for a few minutes. Upgrading the ssd's firmware (which annoyingly required a full format too) fixed the issue.
I spend weeks on this issue, disabled all kinds of power saving settings and reïnstalled the operating system multiple times with all kinds of kernel versions.

  17. Verlisify says:

I want to know why windows randomly powers on from sleep since like Windows 8 started

  18. zakius says:

honestly I'd still try connecting PC to the wall, different PSU-s can work differently with the power delivered by UPS and it's basically a free check, why not do it?

  19. Ngl, The Intro was ingenious

  20. i think your bios is crashed

  21. Dj Macgyver says:

    Window 11 is the problem…Windows 11 will not support a 3 monitor setup…Anyone have a fix…i miss my 3 monitor setup…Thanks a lot win 11

  22. EndstyleGG says:

Maybe another thing to mention; when you update your bios, you really should manually set your overclocks back and NOT use the saved profile. For whatever reason there is a good chance some settings seem to apply, but actually don't so it causes all sorts of problems, while everything seems properly set.

I had to cash my vacation time out because there aren't enough people for me to actually get the vacation days..
